OVERVIEW
The Bachelor of Stage Management is a hands-on, industry-focused degree delivered by Collarts – the Australian College of the Arts. Designed for emerging production leaders, the course prepares students to take creative work from vision to reality through professional stage management and technical production training.
Before a casting call is announced, stage managers are already shaping the production. Whether guiding performers through the rehearsal process or using the nuances of sound and lighting to bring a scene to life, stage management and technical production teams are at the heart of every performance.
With units covering theatre studies, stage management projects, technical production and critical thinking, students gain a deep understanding of the practices, responsibilities and workflows that underpin successful performing arts productions.
Students also benefit from hands-on industry placements and collaborative projects across disciplines, building the confidence, experience and creative connections needed to thrive in professional theatre and live production environments.

Can I submit an application now?
Applications are not currently open. You can register an Expression of Interest for an expected Trimester 1 intake commencing February 2027. This ensures you receive timely updates and application information from Collarts.
When will applications open?
Applications are expected to open once regulatory approval has been confirmed, anticipated in March 2026. Applicants who register their interest will be notified directly by Collarts.**
Who awards the qualification?
The qualification is awarded by Collarts – The Australian College of the Arts upon successful completion of the course.
Where is the course taught?
Teaching takes place on campus at Sydney Actors School’s – Waterloo Campus, a purpose-built creative campus used by professional film and television productions and located within Sydney’s screen industry precinct.
