Deron is a Gubby Gubby Aboriginal actor, based in Sydney, who grew up in Maclean.
His acting roots started at a young age when creating his first-ever character named Darla, who was born after playing dress up in his mother’s wardrobe. This moment became the beginning of his acting journey, leading him to Sydney Actors School. There he worked with industry professionals including Garth Halcombe, Pip Edwards, Felix Williamson, and Lyn Pierse. During his training, he starred in several short films, including Swedish Death Cleaning and Bye. He also took on production roles for the plays ‘Girl Asleep’ (dir. Kate Gaul), and ‘Wayside Bride’ (dir. Anna Houston). Acting has become an important outlet through which Deron can do what he loves, and he is looking forward to exploring this further out in the industry.
