VOICE
Simon was born in Scotland and now lives in Sydney, he holds a MA in French & Spanish from Cambridge University, a PGDip in Music Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music, & a MFA in Voice from the NIDA. Over the past 20 years he has worked as a singer, actor, singing teacher, translator & voice coach.
Highlights include:
Lachiusaʼs Wild Party and Lucky Nurse; devised work with Activated Image; touring as Bass 1 of the Swingle Singers; vocalist with Australian Chamber Orchestraʼs Timeline; work with The Song Company; a French-language European tour of Le petit prince; and narrating Berioʼs Sinfonia at the London Proms.
He lectures in phonetics, accent and dialect, singing and musical theatre on the Acting BFA and Voice MFA at NIDA. He has taught at Actors Centre Australia, Sydney Theatre School, Sydney Actors School, Excelsia College, Toi Whakaari, and Cal State University Long Beach. He is a regular teacher on NIDA Open’s Music Theatre and Voice courses and is a tutor for NIDA Corporate.
Production coaching includes: Trainspotting (Limelight on Oxford); The Lady in the Barracks (Sydney Fringe); Hello Again, The Hypochondriac, Persona and In a Year of Thirteen Moons (NIDA); We Are Proud to Present… and Antigone X (California Repertory).
